Community Well-Serviced by Leading Non-Profit Renown Health

Renown Health provides the care to those who live in the Nevada region and it is the biggest not-for-profit health care provider in the state. It is a locally owned company, which has an integrated health network and Accountable Care Organization (ACO), serving 17 counties in northern Nevada, Lake Tahoe and Northeast California.

Dating back to 1862, Renown Health was the first nonprofit agency to establish a hospital, making them a landmark within Reno, Nevada. The first open-heart transplant was performed by the hospital in 1977, leading the industry during a time in which heart pacemakers were first being introduced to patients.

The current CEO, Anthony (Tony) Slonim joined the organization in May 2014. He is board-certified with degrees specializing in internal medicine, pediatrics and critical care. Tony has led the company in a strategic direction and is held as the champion, for the company’s financial viability, streamlined operations to reduce costs, and optimization to better serve the health care needs of the community.

Renown Heath focuses on more than just providing attention to medical needs; they are very aware of the well-being of those within the community. To benefit the community, Renown Health has reinvested $78 million into the Nevada region, for research, community out-reach initiatives, educational needs, and non-reimbursable health care services.

Renown Health is a provider of community financial support and contributes to 80 localized nonprofit agencies, which amounts to over $63 million on an annual basis. They have met the needs of those organizations in areas of capital improvement, for stabilization of equipment, technology and building structure.

During fiscal year 2016, Renown Health’s total economic impact in Nevada amounted to $1.8 billion and over 12,000 localized job placements. Additionally, Renown Health was involved in 75 clinical trials, such as research to determine the most-effective way, for the treatment of cancer patients.
