Most people know of Ryan Seacrest from his numerous appearances on radio, television and, specifically, for his hosting of the hit television show, American Idol from 2004 to 2013. However, what many people do not know is that Ryan Seacrest is also a extremely active and innovative philanthropist who, in 2010, three years before his run on American Idol came to a close, created The Ryan Seacrest Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping improve the quality of life of children all across America. The organizations first significant and unique effort was called Seacrest Studios and it sought to create as many state of the art broadcasting studios within children’s hospitals such that the patients would be able to utilize the best available technology to interface with the world, meet numerous celebrities they admired and tell their story.
According to Seacrest himself and his organization, they believe that Seacrest Studios, in bring more attention and concern on ailing children, will help to increase the healing process by distracting them from their mundane concerns and keeping them in a great state of mind. The organization also aims to inspire the children who utilize their studios through education, information and entertainment.
In addition to all of these various activities Seacrest Studios is also involved in outreach to journalism schools to help them get a first hand experience in professional broadcasting and also help get them acquainted with the equipment and cover what is going on in pediatric hospitals. Presently, Seacrest foundations is run by Ryan Seacrest and his family and has ten brick and mortal locations spread out across the United States of America in areas such as North Carolina, South Carolina, Colorado, Philadelphia, Ohio, Texas and Los Angeles. Some of the hospitals currently partnered with the venture include the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital of Vanderbilt and the Boston Children’s Hospital.
